X Topic Abstract

The Agile Manifesto was published in 2001. It took the software industry a good few years to truly understand what the manifesto means, and the principles behind it. However, choosing and implementing the right set of practices to get the true value from working the Agile way has been the biggest challenge for most!

While Agile has now gone mainstream, and as we get better at the development practices to being Agile, Testing has still been lagging behind in most cases. A lot of teams are still working in the staggered fashion - with testing following next after development completed.

In this workshop, we will learn and share various principles and practices which teams should adopt to be successful in testing on Agile projects.

Agenda :

- What is Agile testing? - Learn what does it mean to Test on Agile Projects
- Effective strategies for Distributed Testing - Learn practices that help bridge the Distributed Testing gap!
- Test Automation in Agile Projects - Why? What? How? - Why is Test Automation important, and how do we implement a good, robust, scalable and maintainable Test Automation framework!
- Build the "right" regression suite using Behavior Driven Testing (BDT) - Behavior Driven Testing (BDT) is an evolved way of thinking about Testing. It helps in identifying the 'correct' scenarios, in form of user journeys, to build a good and effective (manual & automation) regression suite that validates the Business Goals.

Key Learnings for participants in this workshop :

- Understand the Agile Testing Manifesto
- Learn the essential Testing practices and activities essential for teams to adopt to work in Agile way of working
- Discover techniques to do effective testing in distributed teams
- Find out how Automation plays a crucial role in Agile projects
- Learn how to build a good, robust, scalable and maintainable Functional Automation framework
- Learn, by practice, how to identify the right types of tests to automate as UI functional tests - to get quick and effective feedback

Pre-requisites :

- Basic working knowledge and understanding of Agile

COURSE OBJECTIVE

Are you a test manager or test director? Do you feel that your team lurches from one project to the next, working very hard but at the same time disappointing stakeholders, reinventing work products, and generally muddling through? Maybe your problem is that you do not have a clearly articulated test policy and strategy. What objectives are you trying to accomplish? How do you intend to accomplish those objectives? In this extremely hands-on, practical workshop, you will learn how to create actionable, relevant, concise test policy and strategy documents for your organization, and work on those documents. Our trainer will discuss the creation of test policy and strategy documents, then work interactively with workshop participants to create them. After each exercise, workshop participants will discuss and review each other as work. Companies are encouraged to send two or more test managers who can work together to define standard templates and worked examples for these two documents for their organizations.

Topic Abstract

Remember the days when every single test case for a project has to be written by developers themselves? Those were the times when every single development project was following the ground-up approach when teams just dive into coding and development, without actually testing out the feasibility of the functionalities that they are implementing. Today, development teams are evolving, and Agile is becoming the common standard. The focus is now more on User Experience (Usability testing) rather than the actual implementation. As the approach changes, so does the testing mindset. Now, not only developers can be involved in the testing process, but every member on an Agile team can start to define the test cases based on the functionalities that they want to create. And as each functionality is being built, teams can leverage on the automated testing capabilities of Test Studio to ensure the functions are performing as it should, and with the performance that it should be able to handle.

In this session, we are going to take a look at some of the trends and statistics of the Agile Development world today, and also address some of the concerns and reasons why Automated Testing for any Agile Team is so important. In this session, we will also be looking at a quick demo of the Test Studio product.

X

Topic Abstract

Often all other activities before test execution are delayed. This means testing has to be done under severe pressure. It is out of question to quit the job, nor to delay delivery or to test badly. One can argue against the time and budget cuts and plead for more time, but that doesn’t always help. One has to do what he / she can with a smaller budget and time frame.

How to survive?
The real answer is the various test prioritization techniques and strategies in order to do the best possible job with limited resources.

X

Topic Abstract

How does an innocent looking interface element lead to such disastrous consequences like disclosure of credit card information, remotely controlling a machine, hijacking user identities and so on? Data becoming code via cleverly crafted payloads is one of the key security issues and is at the heart of many of the security attacks.

Above thoughts are the basis of Rahul's talk. It discusses the subject from the ground up to create awareness about the core of this problem while appreciating the consequences via live demonstration done by Rahul.
