Topic Abstract
For years, designers have been encouraged to look at the big picture and create ‘Big Designs Up Front’. While working on a large scale, it is easy to forget small things; things that bring a human side to products. It’s the little things that close the bridge between average and awesome experiences. In Dan Saffer’s words, the difference between the products you love and the ones you don’t are these little things, called microinteractions. Microinteractions play an important role in the digital design world.
In this talk, Parimala Hariprasad introduces you to microinteractions, and how you can consciously design engaging, delightful and clever experiences that delight users. The design of any product is only as good as its little details. If microinteractions are bad, product features, no matter how beautifully done, could be surrounded by pain and frustration, driving users away.
Key takeaways include learning about the fundamentals of microinteractions, design principles that guide microinteractions, how microinteractions define user experiences in a positive way and most importantly, how to incorporate microinteractions into the designs and test them using vivid examples and case studies.

Topic Abstract
Many frameworks and processes to design, build and ship products exist, but one process does not fit all products or features. We have Agile, Waterfall, Agilefall, Waterscrumfall
and a bunch of other things in between and beyond. There are many nuances at each step and based on the situation, people, market, etc compromises are made at each step. Effective designers and product managers know which compromises to make and when. There are also a bunch of practices that make each step of the process a bit more effective and lessprone to the negative effect of such compromises. I intend to share some such practices that I have found effective.
Outline
- Typical product cycle that we all know and understand
- Issues that teams face, nuances of the design and development cycle
- Other considerations that are important for holistic design and getting products and
features to end users and customers
- Solutions that have worked for me and the situations they worked in
- Some suggestion that can be implemented at each stage of the process requirements,
research, production, testing, release, etc.
