Topic Abstract

Change is most often considered a straight forward event and managers often neglect the subtleties, which has had catastrophic results for organizations. However logically and rationally we think of making plans to welcome change, it comes under severe scrutiny of colleagues across the organisation and may face resistance to implementation of such plans. Failure rates have been reported to be over 70-80 percent when a plan falls short of desired outcomes. It thus becomes crucial to prepare the organization and seeing it through a change process until the planned result has been achieved. Through this presentation, I wish to highlight importance of change, types of change, a peep into its lifecycle, what affects change, delivering value – i.e., managing benefits, addressing stakeholder interests, change readiness, planning and measurement, and other areas. Considering the vastness of this topic, I only intend the few minutes to be a catalyst to try and advocate accepting and being part of change.

Speaker Profile

Manoj is currently Director & GM of APMG India, a subsidiary of APMG International (UK). He manages business in South Asia, North Africa and Middle East.

In the two and half decades of professional experience, he has 17+ years exposure to the training, e-learning and education management domains. He believes that education can be made more realistic and interesting by simple innovations in technology. The main area of focus is to improve learning abilities, innovative course delivery and aid long term retention, in developing skilled worker capabilities.

Manoj has proven strengths in projects and business operations. He has designed and implemented, simple methods, policies and strategies for effective functioning in small and medium organisations, and has been an `intrepreneurial’ manager. He has enabled start-up operations, built and managed businesses; successfully repeated the exercise a few times in the last 15 years. Some of his successful achievements include setting up franchising model for ITes in mid-90’s during the advent of the internet in India, setting up full-fledged ODC for a Scottish e-learning product development company subsequently managed its operations as its Director, and most recently set up a subsidiary, for a premier UK based Education Management company, currently managing operations and business in AMEA region.

In his current assignment he has grown a start-up to a INR 200 million revenue company in 3 years, with an ambition to lead the company to half a billion rupee revenues in 5 years.

Under his guidance and leadership, organisations have shown operational excellence, excellent service quality, cost & resource optimization and highly empowered teams. He owes his growth to adopting strategy of macro-managing using micro-focus principles.

A strong believer of business ethics, he believes that compliance to guidelines with set tolerances enhance business leadership, organizational quality and stakeholder protection. He has been a speaker and panelist at various forums and discussions, and enjoys speaking to young and aspiring professionals on developing careers & skills.

Manoj has presented papers on Repeatable leadership, Business ethics, Relevance of Change management and Facilitation management. He has managed conferences and events drawing experts and speakers from across the industry.

He has also taught International Business at a leading management school and has been a panelist at student assessments, project assessments, career development, etc. at leading post graduate institutions.
