X Topic Abstract

The Japanese revolutionised the manufacturing industry, becoming pioneers in delivering high quality efficiently. During that time they brought numerous practices to the business world which establishments of all sizes have adopted as best practices. One of the most striking of them all were the mechanisms around minimising the rate of defects, such as the "Poka Yoke" techniques.

Today we have advanced in technology. The software industry has grown exponentially and become capable of delivering good outcomes using modern practices and tools. There are tools which can operate smart at low costs to minimise defects in software. In addition, businesses also use agile practices in projects to deliver value, better and faster. A fundamental enabler for successful delivery with low defects is test automation. Perfect test automation can make agile delivery including DevOps environments yield higher results. Understanding the agile project and applying the perfect test automation within the project can make the biggest difference by far. Such projects are likely to outperform all other similar delivery projects.

This 45 minute, non-technical presentation will address questions such as what is the criteria for the perfect art of test automation? what is testing, defect and quality? What is automation and frameworks? What does it take to perfect the test automation? How can the perfected art of automation be applied to the agile project? What is the significance of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)? How will automation contribute to continuous delivery and continuous improvement? How will perfecting the art have an impact on overall value generation?

We are living in an era with ample opportunities to grow using automation. Perfecting the art of test automation in agile software development projects can deliver the highest quality software products with minimal defects. Like the Japanese revolutionized the manufacturing industry, it is time for us to perfect our test automation to minimise defects and to efficiently and effectively deliver the highest quality value.
