Traditionally, the machine learning techniques like support vector machines (SVM), neural network, naïve bayes, Bayesian networks etc. are used on text for sentiment analysis, topic modelling, TF–IDF, NER etc. However, with the advent of machine intelligence platforms like chatbots, IBM Watson etc. the classical NLP is replaced by deep learning NLP architectures like recurrent neural networks, recursive neural network etc. The talk will reflect on the underlying algorithms used by artificial intelligence enabled sentiment analysis and walk the audience through the varied applications of artificial intelligence in processing natural language.

Dr. Tuhin Chattopadhyay is an eminent business analytics and data science thought leader among both the academic and corporate fraternity of analytics. He was awarded Analytics and Insight Leader of the Year in 2017 by KamiKaze B2B Media and was featured in India's Top 10 Data Scientists – 2016 by Analytics India Magazine. As an academician turned practitioner, Tuhin spent the first ten years of his career in teaching business statistics, research and analytics at a number of reputed B-Schools of India before joining the analytics industry. Currently, being a seasoned professional in the analytics industry, Tuhin works as Associate Director at The Nielsen Company and is responsible for providing full suite of advanced analytics consultancy services to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Emergence of social media as an important marketing tool to drive sales and spread awareness has dominated over last couple of years. It’s about how you are using social media to leverage the potential opportunity. In financial market especially stock price movements are driven by people’s perception and that is driven by any event, or news about the organization or product or any strategic decision by interrelated statutory bodies. To measure the impact of news, articles or events on the stock prices has to be predicted before to take certain precautionary measures. There has to be an alert system in place. The role of Artificial Intelligence is very critical in extracting meaningful information for generating alerts. In that process machine learning is also critical in terms of automation of models or systems to generate alerts and predictions.

Micro segmentation divides the customers into multiple segments, where each segment consists of a small set of customers, allowing predictive analysis and marketing action on each segment. Using micro segmentation, the marketers can target the needs of the customers more specifically.

Micro segments can be derived using many different technologies like, data mining, machine learning and deep learning. Previously, machine learning techniques using the concepts of unsupervised learning techniques were used to derive micro segments. Since machine learning models are based on a feature set as input, the models require a large human effort in engineering features that can be fed to the model.

The deep learning approach uses the concept of automatic feature discovery, where features representative of the input dataset is automatically detected. The features extracted are extensive, and the deep learning model can be used to extract features from a large dataset.

World over AI (aka artificial intelligence) is taking businesses by storm on account of a disruptive takeover of various human oriented tasks by AI enabled software programs. While several domains including healthcare, driverless cars, games etc are talked of in context of AI, I would speak on an area where Indian IT industry has pioneering achievements,namely, software engineering.

My talk will focus on various aspects of software engineering activites in IT services, right from business analysis, to ERP implementation , to software dev/maintenance to testing to infra support. Primarily I will talk of the current trends in use of AI for each of the software engineering activities like Infra support, Testing and Software Maintenance. While AI is the theme, there will be coverage of using data based software analytics to intelligently augment current software engineering processes.

Dr.Srinivas Padmanabhuni is the President of ACM India. Prior to co-founding Tarah Technologies, he was Associate Vice President heading research at Infosys till Oct. 2015. He has rich experience of more than 15 years in IT Industry. He has given 100 plus expert invited talks across universities in US, China, Australia, Canada, Singapore, UK and India including ivy league universities like CMU, Purdue, RUC etc. He is a prolific, astute researcher who craves for new challenges. He has seven granted patents, 15 filed patents, one published book by Wiley, one book in process, several book chapters, 70 plus refereed journal and conference papers, to his credit in addition to marquee invited talks and editorial positions. He obtained a doctorate degree in Artificial Intelligence from University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Prior to Ph.D. he secured his B.Tech and M.Tech in computer science from premier institutes in India Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and IIT, Mumbai respectively.
