About the event

DevOps now is in its seventh year of practice but the old architecture is no longer able to support the speed of delivery and so needs the additional help of Microservices and Docker for incremental change. But adopting a new capability requires a plan that includes people, process and technology.

Microservices architecture helps to deliver easy testing, fast and deployments and overall agility. It’s also fairly complex—so to successfully implement Microservices, you need to understand the core concepts behind this approach.

It will be a two day conference entailing essential talks from guest speakers on the various topics of DevOps with a Panel Discussion.

The final day of the conference will include vital workshops on DevOps tools, Building a Pipeline. The conference will conclude with a workshop on Continuous Monitoring segregated in two parts.

A Technologist by profession but inquisitive by habit, lean thinker, person who challenges the status quo and had success by pushing the limits, of the way we think of architecture patterns, Development methodologies, use of tools in SDLC etc. A lucky technologist , to be present and adapt right technologies and changes at the right time, be it be, Virtualisation, DevOps movement, Cloud , Continuous delivery , Agile , SOA, Micro services etc.

At times confused but composed to find solutions which are not hard to explain and elegant and simple to implement and manage. Be it be products or services, striving hard to question the status quo and understand to take ownership and accountability to showcase the bast in class.

A curious enthusiast who finds hard to spend many days without joy of accomplishment of doing something good and new!!. Thus been part of seed teams of multiple startups and setups which allows you to be at the edge in all aspects!!.

Topic Abstract

Too often, teams believe that whenever their systems interact with other applications or some infrastructure like a message queue or an email server, there's no other way to test than deploying on a full-fledged environment to get relevant feedback. The main issue with that approach is that feedback loop is not optimum, taking sometimes days or weeks to confirm that a single line of code is working as expected.

Since it's even difficult to perform efficient integration testing manually, most teams don't even try to automate this key stage of the software development lifecycle.

However nowadays, pretty much any external dependency can be replaced by an in-memory equivalent : we're not talking about mocking frameworks here, but about in-memory full implementation of standards, like SQL of course, but also messaging or emailing, which can give developers a very good level of confidence that their code is valid, before they even commit the code.

Learning outcome :
The audience will get a bunch of new ideas on how to implement integration tests that can run on developers machine in few seconds, and how this can solve common problems in their current development lifecycle.

Bonus :
- we'll even be able to automate the content of logs generated by the application !
- the test scenario we'll demo follows BDD practices, so that even non technical stakeholders can get a clear picture of what is actually tested

Topic Abstract

We built a configurable product platform used in a mobile finance domain. The architecture was services based. A number of abstractions which we organically developed over time helped us in enhancement/maintainability of our product. The talk is about sharing our experiences with these abstractions and how they turned out to be useful.

Speaker Profile

I have over 17 years experience in the industry as a Engineer. I have played various roles - developer, lead, pre-sales and support engineer. My career has been a mix of product development and custom application development for clients. Companies I have worked with are Torry Harris, Thoughtworks, Apigee; currently I work in Sahaj.

X

Topic Abstract

Conducted as a guided workshop, the session will start with an introduction to the three necessary guidelines to develop Microservices. I will demo, using service examples, how Node.js manages the incidental complexities and achieve concurrent, scalable services. I will conclude with a peep in to other trending frameworks, notably Vert.x.

Topic Abstract

Mainframe often termed old world juggernaut of software industry, but still holds large trillions of data in Banking, Insurance, Travel, Hospitality industry, has an impeccable track record of robust processing and security. But often the fast changing Digital world and Mobile eco system, manifests a challenge to Mainframe systems, in terms seamless compatibility. So that organizations can leverage competitive edge to have mobile eco system as part of their IT solution to gain the dynamic edge yet leverage Mainframe as their system of records to leverage stability.

In this talk will share a generic case study of major bank how they leveraged in making their Mainframe eco system nimble and compatible with Mobile eco system using Agile, Devops and Micro services in tandem to leverage competitive advantage and cost savings

X

Topic Abstract

Ball Challenge - Group of people in circle they need to pass ball to other by calling their name, they need to go fast call the person name and throw ball to him. We can tweak this by They need to throw ball by their name, their fav celebrity, their fav dish etc…

X

Topic Abstract

While DevOps implementations would have happened in bits & pieces across most client landscapes, scaling it when we have 10-15,000 people working, IT spend anywhere between 800 million- 1 Billion $ and spread across 20-30 locations can be daunting. Also, DevOps dimensions have changed largely in last two years where the expectation is to tackle the entire value chain across Plan, Build & Run rather than focus only on CI & CD. The topic would cover the four prime pillars of DevOps with examples – People, Process, Culture & Tools on how to deliver a more effective and efficient build, run and change services to Business.

Key take away: Areas to keep in mind when embarking on DevOps transformation journey in enterprises

Topic Abstract

DESCRIPTION
DevOps techniques and tools are growing faster than we think. Cloud is the current trend. We are going to concentrate more on features of the cloud. Our talk is more about the programmability of the cloud.

ABSTRACT
One of the big changes we are going through in devops is Cloud deployment. Cloud gives us a free hand in choosing programming languages, frameworks, databases, etc.. Once cloud has come into the picture, developers are less worried about deployment.

Cloud comes with a big list of advantages which many of us know. We are going to stress more on the forgotten but powerful feature, programmability. Programmability is one of the highly powerful features provided by the cloud which opens the doors of DevOps to Devs.

Consider an application that consists of 25+ micro services, 8+ databases, proxy servers, load balancers and semi-automated deployment scripts. We are going to share our experience in transforming the semi-automated application deployment to fully automated deployment by programming.

Speaker Profile

Arther G, Solution Consultant @ Sahaj Software Solutions. He has worked on applications across all stages of their life cycle from design, development and deployment for more than 5 years. He is also experienced in transforming monolithic applications to micro services architecture and following development practices like TDD, Continuous Testing & Integration. Recently, he has started working closely with automating infrastructure provisioning and application deployment in the cloud.

X

Topic Abstract

The original intent of containers is to support 'Cloud Native' applications. Container optimized applications are smaller in size and have a shorter life span that their virtualized counterparts. Containers are best for short-lived, small microservices. The biggest enterprises today, are looking to employ or have already employed containers. It's not just new companies, but long-standing enterprises that have come out publicly about their work with containers. What do enterprise executives see in containers? Afterall, containers did not evlove from a management push but gathered momentum from developer adoption. Some execs believe that containers will bring in an era of harmony between application developers and IT operations - in other words containers are being looked upon as the solution to finally bring DevOps to fruition. Others believe it will help lower costs, solve vendor lock-in and enable their hybrid cloud strategy. In this session, we will explore how containers can really help enterprises achieve all of this and what are the considerations to make a truly "Cloud Native" application.
