Fog Computing is a paradigm that extends Cloud computing and services to the edge of the network. Similar to Cloud, Fog provides data, compute, storage, and application services to end-users. Organized crime has been on the rise taking corporates and individuals for a ride with an element of a surprise. Criminals today use every potential opportunity at their disposal, right from implanting an employee, studying the organizations entire process to identifying gaps, accessing critical documents, social engineering, etc. to get what they want.

Organizations believe in culture of trust, instead of trusting anyone or everyone organizations need to evolve by trusting only people who are trustworthy. For instance, when an employee joins an organization, he is given logical and physical access. How many companies monitor what he is actually doing with this access? How do we know he is not facilitating cybercrime?

While most of the organisations believe that they have done most of the specifics related to data and physical access security, however this is far from what is desired in the current context. The prime reason for this gap is due to the risk calibration issues in the minds of the people and thus the organization. At the best, our current controls may be able to tackle a localised risk, whereas the relevant risk today is not localised, in fact it is boundary-less. How can a separatist move in a country affect our corporate? We never even thought about that.

For example, in the current world of cyber-crime, normally it is not the IT which is breached. IT infrastructure breach is just the manifestation. And we try to fix the manifestation, which results in spending man-hours and money which will not yield any return. The need is to identify the root cause rather than following the compliance requirements.

The objective of this talk is to make the audience aware that in our conquest to handle risk, we are leaving our gates open. The talk will also try to demystify the devil that is named as Cyber in the current times.

Mr. Dinesh Pillai is recognized as a global thought leader and has shared his expertise at several national and international conferences on various key challenges faced by the corporate leaders and the government sector. We are in the brink of the 4th industrial revolution. Smart machines have radically changed production processes - and demand equally smart logistics - Logistics 4.0.

Logistics 4.0 is making the logistics process self-controlling. Actors in the logistics system are turned into cyber physical systems by embedding them with sensors, so they can interact and respond to their environments. One such actor is the "Connected SMART container", which interacts with its surroundings, enabling supply chain managers to know in real-time not only a container’s position, but also its temperature, the vibrations it will be subjected to, any attempted burglary, the presence of traces of specific substances in the air or even the regulatory status of the cargo.

They continuously exchange data which can leverage to optimize the transportation process if necessary. This ultimately combines individual logistics processes to form one complex overall system with numerous interfaces, where processes and sequences can be individually adjusted.

Anand has 13+ years of experience in delivering end-to-end IoT / Telematics products and solutions in automotive, construction, mining, oil & gas, transportation / logistics, manufacturing and HVAC.

Presently working as IoT Practice Head for India at ThoughtWorks.

Prior to this as a technical co-founder at Maven, Anand was instrumental in building the IoT / telematics business unit. Developing algorithms / statistical models, executing projects / motivating teams, ensuring constant revenue streams were his responsibilities as a business unit head.

As we speak, there is a “fourth industrial revolution” unfolding, as the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to pick up speed. According to a leading consulting agency’s prediction, up to 40% of today's F500 companies on the S&P 500 will no longer exist in 10 years. The Internet of Things provides us with lots of sensor data. However, the data by themselves do not provide value unless we can turn them into actionable, contextualized information. Artificial Intelligence provides us the framework and tools to go beyond trivial real-time decision and automation use cases for IoT.

In our presentation, we explore the following central concepts and techniques, and how they are game-changers in IoT solutions:

- Role of Rational agents: which perceive their environment through sensors and acts upon that environment via actuators. The most appropriate action depends on not only the performance criterion defined for the agent, but also on the agent's prior knowledge of the environment, the sequence of observations the agent has made in the past and the choice of actions that an agent can perform

- Data Science and Feature engineering for IoT: such as working with Time series data (using models like ARIMA) where we consider a range of technologies relevant to IoT including LSTMs, as well as Differences between traditional datasets and IoT Datasets include processing of noise, skew etc. We look at what differentiates a good model from a bad model, such as in systems that comprise a large number of sensors (such as in autonomous vehicles).

- Natural Language Interfaces: including the role of voice interfaces like Alexa and IBM Watson, and their role in interacting with sensors including Automotive applications, and how natural language processing will play a key role in IoT, as consumers desire products that understand them and are less inclined to use technologies that require them to learn commands and mechanical usage instructions.

Amol Dhondse is an IBM and TOGAF Certified Senior IT Architect. He has over 17 years of experience in the IT Industry and 11 years in Architecture profession. Amol is active among multiple IBM technical communities as a technical evangelist and thought leader, and is leading multiple initiatives within the IBM Academy of Technology & its affiliates. Amol has presented white papers in Regional Technical exchanges, external forums and has been invited in various universities to conduct workshops on Social, Mobile and Portal technologies, and filed several patent applications in areas such as Big Data, Cloud, AI and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Anand Pikle is an IBM Certified IT Architect with roughly 17 years of total IT experience and 10 years as IT Architect, and is currently working as Lead Architect for a large Telco.
