X Topic Abstract

The world has rapidly changed from what we saw in the year 2000 to where we are today. The entire IT landscape has gone disruptive.

As a quality team, we have transformed the way the enabling functions work by completely overhauling and demonstrating that the process outcome is directly linked to top-line, bottom-line and customer centricity in everything that we do.

Over the last 6-8 years, as the Quality Head, I have consciously encouraged Project Manager’s and Account Manager's to take up the role of Quality Professionals as a starting point of making change the way we manage the Quality Organization charter.

By this first step, with due care of the essential certifications (in quality domain) in place, we have looked at improving quality of revenue through multiple process innovations & provoking delivery teams to convert staff augmentation projects to higher engagement models. This helped in improving the quality of revenue and de-risking the revenue from these projects.

Secondly, we have directly worked with the delivery teams to identify change requests and help improve the on time delivery.

Thirdly, we have been driving EBIT (profit margin) across the organization. By this, we were able to quickly alert the leadership during the early phases of projects on those operational levers that needs attention, followed with delivery teams for improvements and ensured the projects started moving towards positive EBIT.

We have also institutionalized “failure point reviews” (lean review & audit process) across projects resulting in delivering “execution risk” to leadership during the early stages of SDLC. This has helped reduce customer escalations.

Lastly we independently manage CSAT across the organization to capture the pulse of 3 levels of Customers

X Topic Abstract

In a startup environment, most engineering roles are modified and need to evolve to match the fast pace and emerging challenges that characterise the workplace. This is probably most applicable to the role of the QA or test team. From being able to sustain daily deploys with a bootstrapped team to leveraging developer testing with no-QA tickets to finding creative ways of making time for test automation - the QA team at Urban Ladder has adopted an approach of conscious adaptation and continuous improvement. In this talk, I will outline this journey and share my insights on challenges we have faced and what has worked well.
