Topic Abstract

In this changing world where change is the only thing that is constant will definitely apply to the work products and services that we deliver to our client. Not only that , in this competitive and demanding world all the customers expect optimal output with less budget, maximized quality and increased time to market. To meet such expectations from the customer end, some organizations tend to rush testing by performing inadequate testing which might hamper quality while increasing long-term support costs. There are also organizations which over-test with high expertise hoping to unearth maximum defect, which may delay software’s delivery to the market thus incurring more cost. In this paper we are attempting to introduce test factory aligned with risk based testing where the resources are divided into different towers with specialization in each tower. Risk based testing further adds advantage to this model by examining the level of the business scenarios and the likelihood of any given defect and the business impact of the defect. Such approach helps organization to plan and deliver the applications / product / Services in an optimal way. Based on this we face the Client attrition and expansion issue in all industries. As companies work to acquire greater market share, they must focus on client retention and expansion in order to sustain that growth. Client retention and expansion extremely depends on the client satisfaction and the way we deliver our services in terms of managing the projects.

Hence now the focus shifts towards Test project management for client retention or expansion. Often, Test managers have to monitor and manage many projects concurrently. Unfortunately, some projects were completed successfully but some were not completed on time, over budget or being cancelled. Some of the reasons of this project failure are the challenges and complexities in the project management such as lack of user involvement, lack of planning, incomplete requirements, lack of resources, incorrect cost estimation, early risk alert , Improper dashboards, Lack of proper metrics computation and metrics analysis, Poor timesheet management etc. There are many project planning and scheduling techniques to manage and help to ensure project success. Some of these techniques, however, may not be suitable for specific types of projects and thus, cause projects to fail.

Topic Abstract

In this challenging world change is the only constant thing. This also applies to the work products and services that we deliver to customers. Not only that, in this competitive and demanding world all customers expect optimal output with less budget, maximized quality and increased time to market. This becomes much more important when we are executing software development projects, where requirements changes are imperative. To fulfil the objectives, we need to understand the customer business and their changing needs. So how are we going to do this? This can be done following Agile methodologies and processes. But again, can we fully say that, following agile practice will solve all issues? The old saying “you can’t improve what you can’t measure” indicates the need to know how you know. But while agile scrum defines several milestones—sprint planning, daily stand-up, sprint review, sprint retrospective, backlog grooming—the milestones alone don’t provide any guarantees of progress or success. However, each one allows team members to inspect and adapt how—and what—they work on. In this paper the AVM (Agile Value metrics) framework that addresses all the issues and gives us a clear path on delivering working software to end user. In AVM framework, we define the end to end agile methodology, things to perform, key metrics that the agile methodologies specifically mention for measuring the success of scrum teams for keeping sprints on track.
