Topic Abstract

“The greatest value of a picture is when it forces us to notice what we never expected to see”- John Tukey.

If information is critical then it deserves to get immediate attention. If information is important then it deserves to be communicated well. Data Visualization Excellence is about communicating greatest number of ideas, facts, relationships and patterns in data, in a shortest time with clarity, in an optimum space.

By a solid understanding of Visual perception, which enables us to sense and process large chunks of information rapidly, one can create efficient and effective Visualizations. Data Visualization is one of the important steps in an iterative Data Science and Machine Learning project process cycle.

This session gives an overview of Data Visualization and Dashboards Trends for quick and effective Decision Making based on insights.

Topic Abstract

Transforming data into an effective visualization or dashboard is the first step towards making your data make an impact. Right charts lead to right decisions. We use charts to tell stories, evaluate alternatives, understand trends or find-out if everything is normal. So, an incorrect charting choice can lead to poor judgment of the messages where as a correct chart can lead to right and faster decisions.

In this session, you will learn to match your message to the right type of display and design each component of your graphs so the data speaks clearly and the most important data speaks loudly.

Topic Abstract

Why is it that some managers read the standard reports and reach different conclusions whereas some other can not read the stories in the reports. The key is "insights" which are derived through thier domain knowledge.

Today data is abundant. Here and now, we actually have more data than we can reasonably use. So today management is overflooded with reports overflowing all showing KPIs & various benchmarks. Wehreas KPIs are good in that they give the target v/s actuals. One of the key objectives of data mining is to derive insights from data.

Insights from data is relatively rare. Insights here are defined as actionable, data-driven findings that create business value. They are entirely different beasts from KPIs. Delivering insihgts requires different people, technology, and skills; specifically those people who have deep domain knowledge. And they’re hard to find. Even with great data and tools, insights can be exceptionally tough to come by.

So today we create a blueprint or a standard operating principles which if followed will help us in data mining in effect creating insights from data.

    Topic Abstract

Machine learning(ML) models are often termed as a ‘Black Box’. But as machine learning models get widely accepted for making decisions (like who should get a loan) their opaqueness often raises questions of transparency. Regulators are asking AI/ML developers to build explainable models. In this talk we will explore new techniques that are being developed to visualize & identify attributes which are used by ML models to make a prediction.

    Topic Abstract

In the era to come most of the digital activities either social or professional will be driven by two key dimensions - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. To cater to this shift, we also need next generation Data Visualization techniques. The shift in data visualization techniques have always been there historically as we have moved from classic bar graphs to 3D data charts but now as we move more towards heterogeneous data sources coupled with AI and Machine Learning, the new data visualization techniques are bound to be manifested.
