Our 1-day workshop is designed to help software developers, architects and IT managers to get a good understanding of Storm, its architecture and the advantages of using Storm over batch processing or other real-time stream processing systems.

Streaming data presents new challenges for statistics and machine learning on extremely large data sets. Storm, an open-source and flexible computation system, can power range of data analytics in real-time and with the use of any programming language of choice.

In this workshop we will discuss developing streaming algorithms with the use of Storm and other Big Data technologies. In particular we will focus on developing streaming applications in Storm and will discuss in length examples in Java, Python and R. We will as well show how to scale computations from a single server to a cluster of servers, giving you the power of processing millions of records per second.

Companies such as Twitter, Alibaba and Spotify use Storm to power their real-time analytics on the global scale. The course features many real-life examples, demos and use-cases of Storm deployments. Most important we show you why and how to use Storm to give you the tools and know-how to understand this cutting-edge technology.

What you will learn :

• Storm architecture and core concepts• Examples of Storm topologies in Java and Python• Developing applications in Storm Trident• Storm integration with NoSQL and Kafka• Operating Storm, creating Storm cluster and monitoring• Deploying Storm projects with the cloud computing environment• Streaming algorithms in Storm and R.
