Certified Scrum Master (CSM) | Agile Training

Certified Scrum Master or Agile training is a two day interactive session in Bangalore, Pune, New Delhi and Chennai, designed to effectively teach Scrum Principles. You will learn what it feels like to be on a Scrum team—experiencing many of the challenges you're likely to face—while being coached by someone involved with the application of Scrum at many organizations. This “learning by doing” style of instruction demands your open mind and active participation.

Attendees who are Project Management Institute PMP's are eligible for 16 Professional Development Units.

NEW REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A SCRUMMASTER (EFFECTIVE FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2012)


You will become a Certified ScrumMaster once you pass the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) test. You have two opportunities within 90 days, after you receive your welcome email, to pass the test at no cost. After two attempts or 90 days, you will be charged $25 for each additional attempt. The questions in the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) test are based on the learning objectives established for this course at Scrum Alliance. You can also access the content of the Agile Atlas. The Agile Atlas is a resource for Scrum and other relevant information you need as a Scrum practitioner.

The test contains 35 multiple-choice questions and you must correctly answer 24 questions to pass. The test takes about an hour to complete. You can stop and restart as many times as needed. You can also skip, go back, and bookmark questions for later review. Review your bookmarked questions before submitting your test for scoring. When you click “submit” at the end, a warning message will alert you of any unanswered questions. Your test results will immediately appear on your computer.

What is a ScrumMaster?
An agile project manager emphasizes facilitation, leadership and communication over traditional command-and-control activities. In the Scrum framework, this role is called “ScrumMaster” as a constant reminder of the differences between agile and traditional project management. The ScrumMaster’s role is to maximize the team’s efforts toward its goals while removing the impediments that stand in its way.

Scrum Advantage:
The advantage of the Scrum is that is a very simple process skeleton that could be also very efficient IF and ONLY IF the context allow that or can be adapted to meet the pre-conditions.

SCRUM can help you plan your projects in parts. That will ensure that you will definitely have some deliverables at a given stage.

All attendees who complete the training course and pass the Scrum Alliance CSM online exam will become Certified ScrumMasters (CSMs), and will be listed on the Scrum Alliance website's CSM registry. Certification is based on full attendance and active participation in the course, and successfully passing the exam. There is not an option to take the exam without first having completed the CSM course. There are no pre-requisites for attending (other than about 60 minutes of assigned reading prior to the class, which will be provided upon registration.)

As Certified ScrumMasters, attendees will receive a certificate and individual license from the Scrum Alliance, a version of the course training materials to use with their own teams, various planning tools and other materials, and they will have access to the Scrum Alliance website's ScrumMaster restricted areas.

Certification Process
A new version of the CSM exam has been developed and beginning 1 April 2012, anyone wishing to become a CSM will need to achieve a passing score on the exam.

The new web-based exam has 35 questions and no time limit but must be completed within 60 days of taking a CSM course. You will be able to bookmark questions, change answers to questions, and even stop the exam, returning to it to complete the questions at a later time within the 60-day period.

After completing the exam, you will be shown any questions you answered incorrectly, but will not be shown a list of possible answers. This is an effort to balance the integrity and security of the exam questions with the opportunity for people to learn through the exam process.

If you do not pass the exam on the first attempt, you may retake it any time during the 60 sixty days following your CSM course. You may even re-take the exam immediately if you would like.

If you fail the exam a second time, you will need to pay a $25 exam fee to the Scrum Alliance before taking the exam a third time. The Scrum Alliance recommends that anyone who fails three times, re-take the CSM course before attempting the exam a fourth time.

The training deepens the important aspects of Scrum and, compared to the Scrum Essentials training, goes into more detail on the Scrum Roles (particularly the Scrum Master), the artifacts and the meetings. In addition, many valuable tips and advice from practical experiences are given, which are helpful for Scrum introductions or for the phase after a pilot. Note: We will not deal with the Scrum basics in this training.

Andreas Wintersteiger
Andreas is an agile coach and trainer with over 20 years of experience in software development in big international corporations and small startups. He has worked as a project manager or project lead since 1995 and still keeps developing on his own. He received a MSc and a PhD from JKU Linz, Austria and is very passionate about developing software.

Andreas started working with agile in 2001, focused on (then called) lightweight methods, especially XP and related practices. He practices test driven development and continuous deployment. He helps software developers and organisations in transitioning to agile, establishing processes and tools, such as build and test automation, continuous integration etc. He has been involved in many large Scrum implementation projects since 2006.

Carlton Nettleton
Carlton Nettleton is the President of leading Consulting Company in US. He is very enthusiastic and encouraging kind of person, he involved in agile projects from past 10 years, he shares his 10 years of exciting agile experience with teams and organizations as they reach for higher levels of performance and engagement. His valuable experience helps others to grow and flourish on individual level.

While training he will be sharing tools, techniques, practices and insights that he had gained in the last ten years while working with Agile teams as both a contributor, leader and a consultant. From past 10 years he is focusing to develop high-performing teams through a combination of visibility, accountability, real ownership of the work and authentic personal relationships. With the help of his vast experience in agile, teams will deliver not just the same mediocre results faster, but ASTONISHING results. His main focus is to use all of his experience and deep knowledge of Scrum to organizations that are looking for something more out of their business and teams.

Jeff McKenna
Jeff McKenna has been involved in software development for over 45 years and has been actively participating in the creation and delivery of agile software development since 1987. He has been involved in all areas of software product development from programming, system design and architecture to project management, testing, sales and marketing. Since the late 1980s Jeff has focused on the process side of development and along with Jeff Sutherland and John Scumniotales at Easel corporation in 1993 created the Scrum methodology of agile software development and started the very first Scrum team.

Jeff has worked extensively with object-oriented programming systems, languages and applications and was the Chair of OOPSLA in 1994 which helped to incubate and increase adoption of several related disciplines including agile software development. Working with IBM, Cigna, ObjectShare, Easel Corp, Millennium Pharmaceutical and the US Air force, Jeff provided  expertise in architecture, design and implementation for their first Smalltalk based object-oriented projects.

Jim Schiel
Jim Schiel is a CST with a strong background in enterprise level Scrum installations. His first book, Enterprise Scale Agile Software Development, was published in November 2009 by CRC Press. Schiel worked at Siemens Medical Solutions for 23 years, where he worked initially as a developer, then as a manager for 17 years, eventually playing an instrumental role in creating one of the largest Scrum installations in the world. As a business process engineer at Siemens, he helped identify, document, and implement best practices for the large scale implementation of agile development.

Jim brings many years of management experience, software development experience, and Scrum knowledge to his classes and coaching engagements

Peter Borsella
Peter Borsella is the founder of Winnow Management Corporation, based in Parkland, Florida.  Peter is an IT professional with over 25 years of experience in application development and IT leadership. He is also a Project Management Professional (certified by the PMI) and a Certified ScrumMaster Trainer (certified by the Scrum Alliance).  His ability to contribute across a wide range of environments has taken him to companies such as First Data Corporation and eFunds Corporation and outside the United States to India, Israel, and Hungary.

Peter is adept in administering all aspects of project management, as well as providing authentic leadership to create effective teams.  An active and contributing member to both the PMI and the Scrum Alliance, Peter’s speaking engagements focus on bridging the gap between traditional Project Management and Agile Project Management.  His goal is to help others understand how to get the best return from any project by achieving higher levels of software quality, increased customer satisfaction, and cohesive teams that enjoy increased productivity.

Peter Measey
Peter Measey is a Director and co-Founder of RADTAC. He has managed and contributed to the implementation of some of the largest Agile Project and Delivery Management transformations in the UK and worldwide. He also works worldwide providing agile coaching and training and has solid experience of enabling agile within different cultures having worked in the United States, China, India and across Europe.

Peter has over 27 years experience in Information Technology and Process / Busi-ness Change across all traditional and contemporary project delivery and manage-ment methods, and is an expert in their successful introduction, implementation and integration. Peter has been specialising in Agile since 1994, and is a Certified Scrum Trainer, Certified DSDM Trainer, APLN Practitioner and Prince2 Practition-er.

David Hicks
David Hicks is a Founding Director of RADTAC. As an independ-ent consultant in 1997 he was hired by British Airways to man-age the implementation of DSDM as the standard method across their 5,000-strong IT organisation.

He joined the Agile Alliance as a Founder member in 2002 and have been doing Agile consulting, training and coaching in a whole range of different contexts ever since, using the full range of Agile approach-es including Scrum, XP, Lean, DSDM and the Open/Agile Unified Process. He is a regular speaker on the Agile conference circuit and hold the following Agile qualifi-cations: Certified Scrum Trainer, Certified DSDM Agile Trainer, Certified Scrum Practitioner, Certified DSDM Agile Practitioner, Certified Scrum Master, Certified Agile Leadership Practitioner.

Who is the Certification Agency?

Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will receive official designation as Certified Scrum Masters by the Scrum Alliance along with a  two year membership to the Scrum Alliance.

Are there any prerequisites to attend this program?
There is no prerequisite to attend the training, except for a 60-minute reading assignment which must be completed in advance of the course (full details are sent about 2 weeks prior to the course date).
