National banks and regulators, exchanges and investment banks across the world are taking seriously the financial innovation
of distributed ledger or block chain technology. The block chain, aka Trust Machine underpins
"crypto currencies" such as Bitcoin; but it goes beyond digital money. It provides a shared,
trusted, public ledger that everyone can inspect, but no single user controls. It is at the
cusp of revolutionising international money transfers, trade finance, syndicated lending
and collateral management, among other applications. As it allows for almost instantaneous
payments and settlement, the potential impact on the role of traders, quants and other financial
technologists cannot be underestimated.
This conference brings together Block Chain technologists in the finance sector, regulators,
industry commentators, computer science researchers and others involved in financial innovation;
these experts explore some of the technology and the many applications of Block chain in
Financial Services.

Game owners gain a useful tool to monetize their non-paying users: we estimate the minimal approximate gain from one gamer at $2 per month within the FREED platform, which is a lot more than the average gain per user in the advertising monetization system.
Game users who are unable or unwilling to pay can “lend” their computers while they are not using them and by doing so gain game values (game currency, game artefacts or extended subscription).
Clients of distributed computing get on-demand access to an open system which is by far faster and more productive than any existing supercomputer at a moderate cost…..

Currency has always been specific to each country. It has borders and requires conversion to use currency of one country in another country. Currency is always backed by the government and is as strong as the government and country backing it. A Bitcoin however has no backing. It is not even real money. It can be earned in any country and spent in any country without requiring currency conversion. How does something virtual and basically inexistent become real money with which we can buy our bread today? In this interesting talk, find out how Bitcoin became real money.

Regulation & Blockchain: A regulatory guide for implementing blockchain solutions A development which has been termed as ‘disruptive’ or ‘evolutionary’ is blockchain. Depending on the nature of the platform using blockchain technology, its implementation has the ability to (a) reduce transaction time, (c) eliminate intermediaries, (c) reduce costs, (d) make transactions immutable.
However, to implement this technology, we have to build the supportive eco-system for it (which includes the regulatory and legal framework governing its usage). A few of the regulatory and legal issues for implementation of blockchain projects to consider are:
- The interplay between the framework of the blockchain network and the ordinary contractual and legal jurisprudence.
- The question of immutability or finality of smart contracts will have to be balanced with the traditional modes of enforcement such as specific relief, interim orders and damages.
- Process of sharing of information and storing of records while balancing existing data privacy laws and cyber security.
- Manner for execution of contracts on blockchain to be reconciled with the provisions of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
- Disclosures and ability of governmental bodies to be a part of the blockchain network and exercise control over the manner of functioning.
- Role of a liquidator or insolvency professional in dealing with assets in a blockchain
