About the event

The term "DevOps" typically refers to the emerging professional movement that advocates a collaborative working relationship between Development and IT Operations, resulting in the fast flow of planned work achieving the value stream that is between the business (where requirements are defined) and the customer (where value is delivered). It is a new way of looking at development altogether.

This conference "DevOps Summit" brings together leading practitioner-organisations who have achieved Continuous Delivery and organisational transformation. Companies going through Mergers and Acquisitions will inherit these systems too and be faced with similar situations and need to find out the many initiatives that increase the efficiency and agility within the enterprise and balance system uptime and stability while bringing alignment between Dev and Ops.

Learn more about DevOps skills, Delivering Processes, Tools for building and deployment, Legacy Challenges, Security Integration, Cross-team engagement and many more.

Workshop

Connecting Jenkins, Docker and Ansible : 12 - 13 September, 2017

Trainer : Ashish Nanotkar, DevOps Architect, MSys Technologies Pvt. Ltd

This course is a practical solution to a generic problem statement identified in DevOps. This course covers all the tools required for achieving the problem statement. This course focuses not only on mere basic tools but also at the complete tool stack so that the candidates feel comfortable with the entire ecosystem. The tools will be integrated together to form a completely automated system working smoothly. The course covers all the stages and sections such as CI/CD, monitoring, codeflow, dev env, analysis, alerting, etc. Our target is to help candidates get to intermediate levels comfortably.

X Workshop Abstract

Who should enroll for this workshop:

Professionals who are looking or starting their course in DevOps, or software professionals who are willing to switch their stream to DevOps. This course aims at ramping up the knowledge and skills to a level where you can feel comfortable facing the challenges in DevOps.

What is this course about:

This course is a practical solution to a generic problem statement identified in DevOps. This course covers all the tools required for achieving the problem statement. This course focuses not only on mere basic tools but also at the complete tool stack so that the candidates feel comfortable with the entire ecosystem. The tools will be integrated together to form a completely automated system working smoothly. The course covers all the stages and sections such as CI/CD, monitoring, codeflow, dev env, analysis, alerting, etc. Our target is to help candidates get to intermediate levels comfortably.

What this course is not:

This course does not aim at covering the depth of vast softwares. We do make sure that we cover enough for any starter to work comfortably and find their way through. We know that it would be a lot to take in the details at the very first shot. Help documents, links and ways to find help will be shared during the course.

Delivery method:

All the course content will be delivered as live interactive sessions. Topics are covered as hands-on live demos instead of in presentations. Trainer will relate the topics to real life examples and share experiences and best practices. The course outline is a guideline and trainer may share some more knowledge depending on time and curiosity of the students. We want you to make best of the time allocated to the trainer and you.

Live demonstrations and practicals will follow the explanation on how and why of the steps that are being covered. All the topics covered are interlinked and will be revised again as and when required.

We encourage our students to ask questions any time they want. We allow sharing screens, talk and have interaction with the trainer. You may ask trainer to extend the time after the class to answer all your queries.

Linux basics: Introduction on linux adminstration is not covered as a separate module but is covered along with other modules as and when required to perform practicals.

Course Material:

I provide with reference materials and practical guides for following the live sessions.

Course and time break up:

● 2 Days workshop

Prerequisites and expectations:

We expect the candidates to work on the practicals the same day.

Knowledge of ubuntu (any linux) would be beneficial. People with background of SDLC, system admin, test automation will have advantage but since we will be covering all topics hands-on starters will have everything covered. We expect assignments to be completed on time.

Conference or Event Schedule

X Topic Abstract

All of us have adopted Docker and the micro services container architecture in some capacity or the other. Are these containers today just splitting our applications into smaller components or do we have the ability to scale up and scale down these independent components. Many of us use Docker containers today, but we fail to configure them to auto scale based on application workload. In this talk get to hear about how you can power your entire cloud infrastructure on Docker and use AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure or IBM Softlayer to automatically and dynamically scale-up and scale-down your containers to automatically meet your applications demands.

X Topic Abstract

According to Gartner a product's UX is more important than its brand. Containerized microservices using Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes have made it much simpler to deliver a continuous stream of small increments to the product features and functionality. However this advanced capability pays off only when used for building a better UX. Building UX is a journey of a series of experiments to validate triggers that motivate users to take certain actions and rewards that build habits. In this talk we will see how Synerzip's CD pipeline helps you chart the course of this journey. You will leave the talk with a more organized picture of why we do DevOps.

X Topic Abstract

How should developers think about containers and what role do containers play in the dev to production workflow? In this session we’ll take a look at container development tool chains including tools like vscode and VSTS. We also look at various container deployment options for production workloads including the different container orchestrators. We will use the https://github.com/MumbaiHackerspace/Visage Application for demonstrations during this session.

X Topic Abstract

A big question on everyone’s mind from customer to stakeholders - How we can release product early-in-market? Will it be stable? Application development speed is increasing, Are we paying price to adopt to these changes? Product quality is one of the area which nobody wants to compromise. Companies look to build new capabilities with high expectations. Major part of the project goes in planning, research. Although the IT industry has taken huge steps in innovation, the quality of application development projects has been lagging. Many IT projects run inefficiently without emphasis to quality assurance causing Outages during and or post implementation and therefore costing significantly more than anticipated.

At the same time when we discuss inverse relationship between speed and quality there are list of companies who all are believing in the concept of DevOps and They release build very frequent and one can say they are on right path – Amazon, Netflix, Coca Cola and list will keep go on.

If developers release any feature, implementations or bug fix they always want to check how it works, they look for fast testing. While developer community wants to Deliver quickly however at the same time operation wants reliability and stability. This is a big confusion area and still need some analysis and work to be done in this Area. An additional “T” /Testing in the DevOps world calling it DevTOps- will fix this gap then results could be different and fast. In this paper we highlight the need, pros and cons of DevTOps.

DevTOps provides a seamless integration between development and operation team, unifying development to operations for better, faster outcomes.

This white paper will talk about strategies one can use to get the best out of all these problems.

X Topic Abstract

Building a real-(mobile)-device lab for Test Automation is NOT a common thing – it is difficult, high maintenance, expensive! Yet, I had to do it!

Attend this talk to understand the Why, What and How I built my own MAD-LAB (Mobile Automation Devices LAB). The discussion will include –

- Understanding the context,
- Why no cloud-based solution worked for me,
- The automation strategy for Android / iOS / Web platform,
- The tech-stack (cucumber-jvm / Appium), and,
- The core implementation to build your own MAD-LAB! (already open-sourced)
- How this results in Continuous Delivery (CD)

X Topic Abstract

The talk explores why traditional database designs are a natural misfit in the Microservices' world - how shared databases pose performance and scaling issues, defeating the very purpose of Microservices. The session further explores Microservices patterns to restructure and align database as well as services, such as DB per service, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Saga, etc.

X Topic Abstract

This talk covers the conceptual details of how and why of scaling out an application. The problems that designers face, solutions that most of them use and customisation needed. This is a story of a small monolith application deployed on a developers laptop and how it grows to be an extensive multi cloud, multi vendor and global application.

This talk touches discussion on microservices, monitoring, logging, secure access, automation, user control, data sync, data virtualisation, centralised control, background bots, message queues and more.

Key takeaway would be the reasons a particular concept has been used and the problem it tries to solve.
