“Know how devices do the talking”

The conference explores how the Internet of Things will re-shape our interactions with the real and virtual worlds in the coming year. In this we are organizing IOT Olympiad & Awards. In this we will discuss about wearable devices, home automation, connected cars and build your own device.

We are covering the following five themes:

In Wearable Devices we will discuss about the latest progress in health& fitness, sportswear, textile & consumer. We will cover about Stretchable & flexible electronics including sensors, displays and more.

In Home automation we will cover Voice Control, More Automation Possibilities, Lighting Design, Security and Automation Together, Snazzy controls, Internet streaming, TV as the smart hub.

In Connected Cars we will be learning how the next gen connectivity in cars is changing our lives; aiming to improve driver safety, whilst connecting the vehicle with the outside world to provide an all-round better driving experience.

In Build Your Own Device the delegates will build their own devices using raspberry pi or Arduino.

Fog Computing is a paradigm that extends Cloud computing and services to the edge of the network. Similar to Cloud, Fog provides data, compute, storage, and application services to end-users. The motivation of Fog computing lies in a series of real scenarios, such as Smart Grid, smart traffic lights in vehicular networks and software defined networks

X Topic Abstract

When focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT), communicating and coordinating sensor-actuator data via the cloud involves inefficient overheads and reduces autonomous behavior. The Fog Computing paradigm essentially moves the compute nodes closer to sensing entities by exploiting peers and intermediary network devices. This reduces centralized communication with the cloud and entails increased coordination between sensing entities and (possibly available) smart network gateway devices. In this work, we analyze the utility of offloading computation among peers when working in fog based deployments. It is important to study the trade-offs involved with such computation offloading, as we deal with resource (energy, computation capacity) limited devices. Devices computing in a distributed environment may choose to locally compute part of their data and communicate the remainder to their peers. An optimization formulation is presented that is applied to various deployment scenarios, taking the computation and communication overheads into account. Our technique is demonstrated on a network of robotic sensor-actuators developed on the ROS (Robot Operating System) platform, that coordinate over the fog to complete a task

X Workshop Abstract

IoT based applications like “connected homes” have come a long way. As per certain estimates the user base has increased significantly during last couple of years, however, it’s far from predications of billions of devices. Industry needs to sit down and think the what are the impending needs to take the IoT technology, its applications and adoption to the next level. Some of the key factors are awareness, safety, security, interoperability, extendibility, reliability, ease-of-use and self-learning mechanisms etc. For example, safety of users and data security are big concern at this point in time. Some of the recent incidents like hacking in automotive space have highlighted this limitation. Likewise, we would discuss / establish how adoption is dependent on these key factors. We would like to draw attention on such key aspects. Further to this, extend the discussion onto technologies involved and potential use cases of IoT and its values to society.
